Texas Book Festival

Thanks to everyone who came out today for the Magic and Mayhem panel at Texas Book Festival in Austin. We had a large enthusiastic crowd. One family had traveled all the way from Mississippi (nice meeting you, Wayne!). Special thanks to Evan, who brought me a copy of a school essay he wrote about somebody he admires. He wrote about me, which was an honor!

The picture above shows me with fellow panelists T.A. Barron, Patrick Carman and Elizabeth Singer Hunt. They were all funny and articulate presenters. Topher Bradfield did a great job as our fearless moderator.

While at Texas Book Festival, I got to help present the new master list for the Texas Bluebonnet Award. I’m sure that will be announced online by TLA soon. It looks like a great list this year. I also got to tape a television spot with Evan Smith of Texas Monthly, which should air on Thanksgiving on many Texas PBS stations. I’ll post more information when I get it.

Tomorrow I’m off to Wichita Falls for three days of school visits. Don’t worry — I voted early because I knew I’d be out of town. Happy election week, everyone!
